BIG GIRL'S BLOUSE

Discarded fabrics, buttons, wadding.

In Britain, the term ‘Big Girl’s Blouse’ has often been used as a derogatory phrase to suggest someone who is weak, cowardly, oversensitive and ‘unmanly’. This work is a reapportion of the term and also a rumination on issues experienced on gay dating apps where many people have described me as ‘too fat’ or ‘too femme’. The work can wither be worn and performed in or hung from a purpose built giant coat hanger.
