COCOON (2020)

Discarded textiles, found objects, acrylic medium, dirt, latex, industrial pulley hook, 148cm x 54cm, installation dimensions variable.

'Cocoon' (2020) is a re-working of an earlier work entitled 'Nest' (2019). Both artworks sought to explore notions of domesticity and home but it was ultimately decided that for queer lives these concepts are often contested, in states of flux and ever changing. Presented in its evolved form, the work represents a corpse-cum-cocoon structure, which oozes, sheds and drips abject substances. Following the Japanese art of shibari bondage the work is bound and suspended from the ceiling using a pulley system and industrial hook.
